Gennady Golovkin rematch talks with Canelo Alvarez ‘going well’, says promoter

Gennady Golovkin 'one detail' away from presenting rematch to Canelo Alvarez

Gennady Golovkin’s proposed rematch with Canelo Alvarez is edging closer with just one more detail to iron out, according to Golden Boy president Eric Gomez.
Alvarez and Golovkin fought to a split draw in September and the middleweights have been locked in negotiations over a second fight since then.
Golovkin did not have an immediate rematch clause in the first fight’s contract and has to convince his Mexican rival to agree to a second bout.
And Gomez says his team are close to presenting the final rematch deal to Alvarez.
‘(Everything) is going very well, we’re fine, we’re talking, there’s one detail that has to be fixed and fine-tuned and in the next few weeks we’re going to sit down with Canelo to present everything to him and he’s going to make the decision,’ Gomez told ESPN Deportes.

Alvarez was less enthusiastic about fighting knockout artist Golovkin a second time, but said he would if that was what the fans wanted.
Golovkin was close to edging the fight, but retained his middleweight belts.
GGG’s promoter Tom Loeffler said last week his side were scouting potential venues and the rematch was the ‘priority’ fight for his boxer.
It is unclear where the rematch could take place with Texas, Las Vegas and New York all possible..
