Elton John’s surrounded by stars at Aids Foundation’s anniversary gala

It was a big night for Elton John on Tuesday as his Aids Foundation Gala celebrated its 25th anniversary in star-packed fashion.

And he certainly hit the red carpet in style as he posed with husband David Furnish on the red carpet at the event, which attracted the likes of Neil Patrick Harris, Diane Lane, Sheryl Crow and former US president Bill Clinton.

We have to admit, that’s a pretty strong suit game the pair of them have going on there.

But sartorial eloquence aside it was a night high on emotion as the celebrity guests celebrated the anniversary of the Foundation, which the singing legend set up in 1992 to support HIV prevention research and help those living with the virus.

Elton choked back tears onstage as Jeanne White – the mother of Ryan White, a teenager who became a poster child for HIV and Aids after contracting the virus in the 1980s, spoke of how the singer had helped her son before his death in 1990.

The singer previously said that his story inspired him to change and battle his own demons, adding: ‘Six months after Ryan passed away, I got help and I became sober.’

He also became emotional after paying tribute to his friend Ingrid Sischy, who died of breast cancer in 2015, saying: ‘She was my sister. I don’t have her anymore. I have her inside of me. And I miss her so much.’

The gala also featured a performance from Aretha Franklin, who took to the stage with a medley of songs to close the night, while Clinton and former New York governor Andrew Cuomo were also among those hailing Elton for his work with the foundation.
